Message from School Administration

Welcome to Central Hastings School's 2023-2024 Course Calendar!

On behalf of all staff at Central Hastings School (CHS), we would like to welcome both new and returning Centurions as you plan for the 2023-2024 school year! CHS has a long-standing tradition of providing quality programs that benefit all students, and that provide the educational background for future success to meet the ever-changing demands of the world after secondary school. We continue to expand student opportunities in order to best prepare our students to meet these demands, and we are constantly reviewing and refining all aspects pertaining to our school programming to best serve our students and community.

We are proud of our excellent programs which prepare students for university, college, apprenticeships and the workplace. Our students have gained wide recognition for their accomplishments in the arts, technology, athletics and academics while our staff members continue to provide the best possible learning climate in which students can excel.

CHS offers students the opportunity to graduate with distinction through the Specialist High Skills Major program in Construction, Transportation and Information and Communication Technology, as well as offering dual credit programming in Mathematics through our connection to Loyalist College. Central Hastings School also provides students with a multitude of exciting extra-curricular opportunities in the area of sports and student leadership initiatives.

This course calendar contains course descriptions and flowcharts of course pathways to help you choose appropriate courses for you to meet your academic goals. We encourage you to review the information in this calendar carefully with your teachers and parents/guardians, and contact our team of Guidance teachers if you have any questions. To our new Centurions, we welcome you to our school community and look forward to your participation in CHS life throughout the next several years. To our returning students, we thank you for your contributions thus far, and we look forward to supporting you in your continued growth and leadership. We look forward to a fantastic new school year as we continue to learn and grow together!

Sincerely,

Dayna Scaletta & Louise Gunning, Principals
