School Activities

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

Students can show their CENTURION SPIRIT by becoming involved in the many extra-curricular activities at Central Hastings including sports, student leadership committees, and clubs.  Participation in these activities is a privilege and students need to be aware that if they are not meeting school expectations, this privilege may be withdrawn.  Such expectations include:

  • being successful in all courses that they are enrolled in
  • maintaining a good attendance record
  • paying the Student Activity Fee and any additional costs

Student Leadership Opportunities

CHS encourages students to take ownership in the events and activities that occur at the school through various leadership positions.  Students are able to work with staff facilitators on various committees that they can choose based on their interests.  CHS offers a diverse range of student leadership opportunities as outlined below.  Centurion student leadership helps to inspire school spirit.  The following committees help design and implement the extracurricular activities that CHS offers.

Students' Council

Get involved in the student body elections and work closely with your school president(s) to create a strong school to community connection.  Share your ideas and be a part of the organizing committee to keep projects like the Fox Trot, the Christmas Sharing Food Drive and Auction, Centurion's Fasting for Families, and the Healthy Active living Week alive.

CHS Spirit

Keep the Centurion spirit strong by helping to design and implement spirit activities and challenges for homerooms and during the lunch hour.  Make CHS the place to be by building spirit and enthusiasm throughout the entire school year and topping it off with Gamerama in June.  Help keep all homerooms connected to the social atmosphere of CHS while working towards the end of the year celebration.

Dance Committee

Work as a team to convert the CHS gym into a red carpet affair or tropical island by fiving your input and assistance toward designing theme dances, decorations, DJ and music selections and all the rest of the essential elements.

Sound Academy

The Arts students of CHS work together to feature the Music and the Arts in creative ways.  Showcase your talents and help add a creative flair to student activities and our school atmosphere.

Coffee House

Become part of the committee that keeps this popular cultural event alive at CHS. Showcase student and staff talent in an intimate and interactive environment.
